In 1999, I purchased a PVC hot water bag from a pharmacy and was burned by low temperatures. Through research, I discovered that PVC bags conduct heat more effectively than rubber, making them riskier for burns. Additionally, PVC bags have lower durability, with a greater risk of leaks or explosions. Remembering the solid, reliable hot water bottles from my childhood, I set out to create a modern version that combined safety, durability, and timeless design. Peterpan’s hot water bottles were born from this idea—blending tradition and innovation. At Peterpan, we prioritize safety, quality, and respect for nature. Our hot water bottles and covers are original designs, crafted from carefully sourced natural rubber and premium fabrics. Each product is designed in the United States and beautifully made by skilled artisans in China using the finest quality grade A natural rubber. The rubber for this hot water bottle is natural rubber and comes from the Sri Lankan rubber tree. This makes our rubber hot water bottle a sustainable product from renewable sources, in opposition to plastic hot water bottles, the raw material of which is oil.

We do not provide rubber hot water bottles which have a lower rubber content and are bulked out with chalk and other chemical fillers. These types of bottles are ineffective at retaining the heat and wear out much quicker leading to leaking and bursting. The hot water bottle has a higher rubber content (56%) which has greater heat retention. That’s why they’re a little bit more pricey – but we’ve chosen a bottle that, with the right care and use will work safely each time
