I have been using CeraVe Hydrating Facial Cleanser for months and it became a staple in my skincare routine. It cleansed my face thoroughly without stripping moisture, which was exactly what I needed for my dry skin. The Cleanser for Silky, Smooth Skin
My mature skin is at a point where it needs all the help it can get. It’s gone from being combination to dry skin. I’ve settled on CeraVe after research and reviews give it a high rating for performance and affordability. Needless to say, they are not wrong. It took a minute for me to get accustomed to the silky texture of the CeraVe Hydrating Facial Cleanser, Moisturizing Face Wash. It has the thickness and consistency of a lotion: no foam, no suds. So applying this after wetting my face felt weird. Then massaging it into my skin? That felt even weirder. But the reward comes after rinsing off and patting dry. My skin feels soft and smooth. Fortunately, I haven’t experienced a negative reaction. The product lasts a long time because a little goes a long way. It’s perfect for cleansing in the morning when I’m washing off products I applied the night before. I make that distinction because I tried using this at night after wearing makeup and I had to wash twice. The CeraVe cream to foam cleanser is recommended for pm use and for makeup removal. I bought that as well even though I rarely wear makeup these days, but that’s another product review. I’m so pleased that I’ve added other CeraVe anti-aging products to my routine because who doesn’t want to age well?

Great for dry skin, but expect a richer and oilier feel
I picked this up after my dermatologist recommended CeraVe for my dry, eczema-prone skin and I’m pretty happy with it. It cleanses gently without stripping any moisture and my skin feels hydrated and calm after every wash — no tightness, no irritation. The hyaluronic acid and ceramides combo is clearly doing something right. That said, if you’re switching over from the CeraVe Renewing SA Cleanser like I did, be prepared for a noticeably different texture. The SA Cleanser has a lighter, more gel-like feel whereas this one is significantly richer and has more of an oily texture that can feel a bit heavy, especially if you have combination skin or tend to get oily in your T-zone. For strictly dry skin it’s probably perfect, but it took some getting used to for me personally. Still a solid cleanser backed by good ingredients and the National Eczema Association certification gives it extra credibility. Just know what you’re getting into texture-wise before making the switch.
